We are seeking a passionate and talented Lead Product Designer – Design Systems to lead, craft and spearhead the vision and strategy for our design system. Leads the setting of standards, design principles for all of ShareFile. As part of the User Experience team, you lead by example – you are curious, doing the work and challenging assumptions at every turn. Our ideal candidate advocates for users and leverages data to design product experiences. We appreciate designers who think deeply, have a good sense of humor, and love collaboration.


Role Overview:

Demonstrate subject matter expertise in user-centered design

  • Provide design and systems-thinking thought leadership and best practices, such as documentation, system structure and mental models, at all levels of the organization
  • Offer design guidance to and mentor junior designers 

Proactively collaborate within the design team and with cross-functional teams.

  • Review and delegate work to design teammates
  • Actively communicate and share information with design teammates to ensure UI/UX pattern alignment across platforms and products
  • Collaborate with, receive, weigh, and integrate feedback from cross-functional teams of designers, writers, researchers, engineers and product managers

Proactively provide solutions with strategic intention

  • Understand business goals, strategy, and product offerings
  • Anticipate issues and communicate them as they arise
  • Own the strategy for the design system and use it to inform the backlog, roadmap, and goals

Communicate design work within the design team and with cross-functional teams

  • Visualize system progress, vision, and strategy to communicate to key stakeholders and facilitate alignment on direction, gaps, and opportunity
  • Translate the vision and strategy into actionable work for the design system team to deliver on
  • Advocate for a user-first approach to design by holding interviews and retrospectives to gather input from users and peers
  • Leading cross-functional collaboration efforts like workshops & design sprints in order to generate and evaluate creative solutions 

Work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment on multiple products

  • Contributing to the standardization, interpretation, and guardianship of ShareFile’s design systems
  • Defining design standards across the platform, guiding proper usage and compliance
  • Writing and maintaining UX documentation on design elements, patterns, layouts, and user flows, including usage guidelines and best practices
  • Set your own deadlines within the project schedule
  • Take ownership over designs, decisions, and deliverables


Your Superhero uniform Includes:

  • 8+ years of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design for multiple products, including experience in:
    • User-centered design methods and techniques (e.g., user research and testing, data analysis, customer journey maps, etc.)
    • Designing for software applications for multiple platforms (e.g., web, mobile, desktop)
    • Working and collaborating in Agile development environments using management and issue tracking software (e.g., Jira)
  • Demonstrates a passion for design, our users, and collaboration with designers and cross-functional team members.
  • Has a solid portfolio showcasing work that exhibits attention to detail and articulates design decisions
  • Bachelor's degree in visual design, interaction design, human factors, human-computer interaction, or equivalent professional experience


Your Superhero Strengths Include:

  • Possesses working knowledge of web technologies and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React); experience with front-end coding a plus
  • Demonstrates high proficiency in creating low- to high-fidelity: wireframes, designs concepts, prototypes, and technical documentation using industry tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe CreativeCloud, InVision, Axure).
