Senior User Researcher

As a Senior User Researcher, you will be responsible for creating research plans, managing research, moderating interviews and interpreting research results. You will help guide the ShareFile user experiences to the next level. Efforts that go into creating the experiences and crafting the details in our products help transform the way people work. Ongoing usability assessments and general concept evaluations are needed to assure we are delivering customer value. Advocates for users and leverages data to design our product experiences. We appreciate researchers who think deeply, problem solves, and have a good sense of humor, and love collaboration. This role requires skills both in traditional HCI practices, and data science statistical skill set required for collecting deep insights on our product portfolio experience. Responsibilities include data science, evaluation exercises, and strategic generative/ concept field research for Product Design teams.
Role Overview:

Proactively collaborates within the Product Design team members and other internal cross-functional teams.

Work closely and effectively with other designers, managers, Product Management, and Engineering; and other organization teams (Pre-sales, Support, Success, IT), and know when to seek help from stakeholders and management.
Learns how to receive, weigh, and integrate feedback from the design team and cross-functional teams for relevant work load.
Research & Design
Recruits required participants for research study designs.
Works with stakeholders determine proper methodologies, testing timelines, and outcomes to align to business impacts with key stakeholders.
Recommends appropriate quantitative or qualitative tool/approach to gather necessary insights from clients or prospects.
Schedules and prioritize research work with guidance from managers.
Provides input for testing wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, and assets for various platforms (e.g., web, mobile, and desktop), may create assets required for testing as needed.
Demonstrate attention to detail – terminology, appearance, operating system standards, behaviors, and workflows.
Work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment on multiple products and demonstrates ability to be self-directed and lead evaluative studies with supervision to build a deeper understanding of users; and uses this to inform the team.
Has an analytical mind and be able to process data from multiple sources to amplify findings such as product, market, usage, or other quantitative data.
Regularly share design/research iterations and project updates with management and team.
May need to work iteratively rapidly and create multiple research solutions for various research tracks.
Communication & Storytelling
Advocates for users and the role of design and product development process Incorporate and share new techniques based on industry trends.
Regularly seeks research guidance, coaching, mentorship and training to other employees, and actively communicates with design teammates to ensure UI/UX pattern alignment and insights across platforms or product space.
Present research a clear, confident, and logical manner with clear rationale for research methodologies, insights, and decisions for any recommendations and how this may relate to business goals, product offerings, and industry best practices.
Regularly assists on validation of various hypothesis and benchmarks designs and review builds by weighing feedback and impact throughout product experience.
Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Your Superhero uniform Includes:
Minimum Master of Science or Arts in Human Factors, Human Cognition and Interaction, Data Science or Product Design preferred, additional bachelor’s degrees will be considered with relevant experience such as Anthropology, Psychology, and Cognitive Science, Statistical Methods, or Machine Learning.
Requires a minimum 5+ years of prior applied user research or relevant industry experience in product design with a strong foundation in HCI methodologies and research skills but is willing to learn and work to grow into a well-rounded Product Design Researcher.
Demonstrates a passion for researcher, our users, and collaboration with designers and cross-functional team members.
Has a solid portfolio showcasing work that exhibits attention to detail and articulates design recommendations. Portfolio must demonstrate 3-4 examples that demonstrates a range of skills that may include:
(UX) and user interface (UI) design research for multiple products
User-centered design methods and techniques (e.g., user research and testing, data analysis, customer journey maps, etc.)
Research and design for for software applications for multiple platforms (e.g., web, mobile, desktop)
Working and collaborating in Agile development environments or experience in Agile/Scrum development teams.
Expertise in enterprise space for complicated systems or systems design.
Expertise in quantitative field with demonstrated skill in R, AWS, NoSQL Systems, or/and Spark or other tools.
Visualization of data insights and data dissemination for storytelling desired.
Demonstrate knowledge of a cross section of tools and techniques relating to support of large-scale data analysis
Your Superhero Strengths Include:
Has proficiency in leverage UX industry tools: wireframes, designs concepts, prototypes, and technical documentation using industry tools (e.g., Qualtrics, Validately, SPSS, InVision, Axure, Microsoft Office).
Bonus if experience in visual design, interaction design, human factors, human-computer interaction, development, or equivalent professional experience in other facets of user experience design.
Working knowledge of web technologies and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React); experience with front-end coding a plus but not required.
Experience as a data professional (big data solutions)
Experience in statistical methods (e.g., correlations and regressions, anova, resampling, effect size)
Experience in Machine-learning Techniques (e.g., clustering, decision trees, nearest-neighbors, support vector classifiers, ensemble methods, collaborative filtering)
Proven understanding and proficiency of database administration and data structures
