EBX Backend software engineer

Join the EBX core product R&D team, and get involved in the next generation of multidomain data management software. The Senior Software Engineer will be working on the backend of an MDM Enterprise software, involving:

  • A custom persistence schema in the relational database, using Protocol Buffers for the serialization.

  • A state-of-the-art MVCC cache for the in-memory Java object structures.

  • Persistent indexing in the filesystem, by extending the Lucene APIs.

  • A custom query framework based on Apache Calcite.

  • An embedded IDE that allows defining custom features using scripting.

  • Data modeling and its editors

  • Data validation and near real-time validation state display

  • User permission rules and their editor

  • Workflow engine, workflow modeling and its editors

  • Data comparison, data merge and their user interfaces

  • Data quality features including matching operations on records

These aspects must be handled in strict compliance with transactional constraints (ACID), and guarantee strong performance while addressing large data volumes.

About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, your manager is a collaborating partner: Although you do not manage, you share responsibility for the effectiveness and success of the team. You participate in discussions without a single given answer, you use your tact, timing, and judgment to make a difference aligned with TIBCO strategy and goals. Even if you organizationally belong to one team, you collaborate globally and across organizational borders, influence and engage in matters of your team as well as what matters to the whole organization.

What You’ll do

Within the team, you will enhance a feature-rich, model-driven, highly scalable and reliable data management system, written in Java on the back-end using Git for version control, Maven for automatic build and dependency management.

  • Get a clear understanding of the needs and priorities.

  • Define the needed Java APIs.

  • Implement the needed features using state-of-the-art software engineering: UML modeling, database modeling, unit tests, design patterns, coding.

  • Work with the Support team to solve third-level support issues.

  • Ensure synchronization with other teams and stakeholders.


Who You Are

  • Java software engineer with at least 5 to 10 years’ experience in software development. 

  • Solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures.

  • Knowledge of database concepts, and query languages is appreciated.

  • Knowledge of ANTLR is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience on one of the supported databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, SAP HANA.

  • OO skills: you are able to write effective object-oriented code and to build and maintain robust frameworks thanks to your experience in object-oriented design, coding and testing; you are fluent in at least one OO language (Java, C++, C#, TypeScript).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills to lead the team.

  • Clarity: you love clear statements, good design and clean code.

  • Research: you like to brainstorm and elaborate on challenging issues, in order to find and build the best solution.

Education: Master’s degree, Engineering degree, PhD, higher education or experience in engineering, computer science or another technical field.
