We’re currently looking for a Principal System Software Engineer to join NetScaler Platform and Infrastructure team.

The NetScaler Platform team, part of the Citrix Business Unit, drives the development of platforms for all NetScaler form factors. Our platforms span diverse form factors, including containers, cloud, virtual, software-defined, and physical, forming the networking backbone of Citrix solutions. Position Summary
This role is part of the NetScaler Platform team within the Citrix Business Unit at Cloud Software Group. You will play a vital role in Citrix's L4-L7 networking journey, supporting customers as they adopt our solutions for a wide range of use cases, including application delivery, security, and workspace/desktop delivery.
The team focuses on innovating solutions across a wide range of infrastructures, including physical (on NetScaler hardware), virtual (ESX, HyperV, XEN), public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP), private clouds, and containerized environments (Openshift, Kubernetes).
At its core, the team's DNA lies in overcoming complex system-level challenges, such as optimizing performance, achieving scalability, and ensuring the availability of networking solutions across these diverse infrastructures.
We are seeking individuals with a strong passion for L4-L7 networking, software-defined infrastructure, and automating software development processes.
Responsibilities
The Principal Software Engineer will take up Infrastructure and Platform projects, either individually or as part of a team.
Design, develop, and troubleshoot complex systems and platforms.
Develop system software for L4-L7 networking products and services across Linux, FreeBSD, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Continuously enhance software development practices by implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
Debug systems at hardware, hypervisor, and kernel levels.
Provide direct support for critical customer issues and collaborate with support teams to resolve key concerns.
Work cross-functionally to integrate with third-party components.
Create documentation and artifacts to convey ideas, algorithms, workflows, and solutions effectively.
Assist in setting the technical direction for project implementations.
Take ownership of specific infrastructure areas and build expertise in those domains.
Collaborate with Citrix leaders to align roadmaps and identify new opportunities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical field.
15+ years of directly related work experience building software products and supporting infrastructure and platforms.
Must have experience in kernel/system software product development
Must demonstrate passion for software defined infrastructure, hands on automation, and reengineering of software development processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
High energy with a positive, can-do attitude.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable working in a distributed team setup across multiple time zones.
Ability to articulate and confidently defend technical positions.
Passionate about software development best practices and proficient in implementing them.
Solid understanding of technology trends in virtualization and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, ESX, KVM, containers).
Proficient in developing within distributed system environments, including microservices, APIs, and multi-threaded programming.
Broad knowledge of networking industry trends, including TCP/IP, L3-L7 networking protocols, and networking delivered as a service.
Comprehensive understanding of operating system principles and open-source OS environments like Linux and FreeBSD.
