Job Description

The industry leading TIBCO Data Virtualization (TDV) team is looking for bright engineering talent with experience with server-side Java development. You will have expertise in using Java and understanding algorithms, design patterns, and performance characteristics. Server security topics including authentication, authorization, and security protocol support will be a focus area, but you will also work on the general server infrastructure.

Familiarity with SQL, Security technologies, and/or Web Services will be helpful. The core responsibilities will include helping customers be successful and helping to extend and update different parts of our Data Virtualization server. This can include working on different parts of our Data Virtualization server to extend and enhance data source connectivity, server security, and/or working with our web service technologies and protocols. 

The TDV server is implemented by a multi-million line source base in Java, so the ability to understand and work with existing code is an absolute must. The core runtime is a complex multi-threaded system and the successful candidate will demonstrate complete expertise in handling features geared towards concurrent transactions in a low latency, high throughput and scalable server environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative

environment with leading data virtualization experts in building the most robust, scalable and high performing database server.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

In this crucial role as a Server Engineer, you will:

  • Expand TDV server capabilities and help maintain existing ones

  • Diagnose customer issues and perform bug fixes

  • Drive enhancements to existing server capabilities and infrastructure

  • Assist in periodic refactoring and redesign of existing server components

  • Suggest and implement performance optimizations

  • Ensure all security aspects of of server operation have zero defects

  • Enhance the product’s data-transformation facilities

Required Experience/Skills

5+ Years experience With:

  • Java programming

  • Writing or maintaining server software

  • Multithreading

  • Server security topics, such as LDAP, Kerberos, OAuth, SAML, and TLS/SSL.

Proficiency in both spoken and written communication in English is a must

Nice-to-Haves

  • Solid SQL skills

  • Strong database background

  • Strong object-oriented design background

  • Experience with any of the following types of data sources: Relational, Big Data, Cloud, Data Lakes, and Enterprise Applications.

  • Experience with at least one of JDBC, ODBC, SOAP, REST, and/or OData

  • Experience with REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, XML Schema, XSLT, and XQuery.

  • Experience with all lifecycle aspects of enterprise software

  • Experience working with large, pre-existing code bases

  • Experience with enterprise security technologies

  • Experience developing or configuring cloud-based software

Education 

Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.

Compensation may vary depending on your location, qualifications including job-related education, training, experience, licensure, and certification, that could result at a level outside of these ranges. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus, and sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role as well as individual performance. NYC generally ranges: $138,518-$207,776 CA generally ranges: $144,540-$216,810 All other locations fall under our General State range: $120,450-$180,676 Benefits may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Cloud Software Group and the country where you work. U.S. based employees are typically offered access to healthcare, life insurance and disability benefits, 401(k) plan and company match, among others.
